HazMat Classes
Chemical Hazard Communications: Under the provisions of the Hazard Communication Standard, employers are responsible for informing employees of the hazards and the identities of workplace chemicals to which they are exposed. The standard establishes uniform requirements to make sure that the hazards of all chemicals imported into, produced, or used in the workplace are evaluated, and that this hazard information is transmitted to affected employers and exposed employees. This is a very basic class for all employees that work with or around chemicals in the workplace or have the potential of exposure.
HazMat Awareness: This class covers the OSHA standard, 29 CFR 1910.120. Participants will learn to read Material Safety Data Sheets and reference the DOT Emergency Response Guidebook for guidance. Students will learn to recognize and identify chemicals and their hazards.
HazMat Operations: This class covers the OSHA standard, 29CFR 1910.120. Participants will learn to operate as part of a decontamination team. Participants will be able to isolate and deny entry into a contaminated area.
HazMat Technician: This class covers the OSHA standard, 29 CFR 1910.120. Participants will learn to use reference books to identify chemicals and their hazards, some references are the DOT ERG, MSDSs, CHRIS Manuals, and chemical dictionaries. Upon completion participants will be able to function on a HazMat entry team, where they will be able to contain, stop, and repair leaks or spills.
HazMat Incident Commander: This class covers the OSHA standard, 29 CFR 1910.120. Participants will learn the various positions in the Incident Command System. They will also learn the responsibilities of each position. This class is designed for anybody that will be or has the potential to be in charge of a HazMat incident or project involving more than one department or delegation of tasks are required.
